Payton Clark Hymas

Payton Clark Hymas was born today, Monday July 27th at 3:53 pm. He weighed 9 lbs, 2 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. His head was 14 1/2 inches and his chest was 13 1/2. He has a full head of hair and long fingers and toes. We think he is simply precious and feel so blessed to have such a wonderful son. Everything went very smoothly through labor and delivery (I will post the entire birth story later). Both mom and baby are doing well.
Here are some pictures we have taken so far. Lots more are to come!

This is very soon after delivery. He was about 6 or 7 minutes old.

The Proof....I had a 9lb 2 oz baby!! I still can't believe he is that big!!!

Daddy holding his son for the first time.

Right before his bath.

He came out with rolls already! His arms and legs are so cute and chubby!!
Right after his bath. Look at his hair! He has so much and it is very curly.

Our little family!

We just adore him so much!

Even more updates!

Well our plans just keep changing, and I want to keep everyone informed! I had to go into the office on Saturday for another blood pressure check. It was still up, even though I have been on strict bedrest. My doctor didn't feel good about waiting till monday to recheck it, so he told me to go to the hospital Sunday evening to check it. If it is still up, then he wants to admit me, so that I will be in the hospital in case something gets worse. If it is fine, then I can wait till monday to be admitted. If I stay sunday night then he will give me a medication called cervadil. It is designed to "ripen" my cervix. It should get me to at least 4 cm through the night (hopefully with me being able to sleep) so I'm a little more ready to go by monday morning. Then monday morning they will break my water and start pitocin. If I get cervadil Sunday night it should speed the process for monday. It really depends on what my blood pressure is when I go in. I have been contracting alot this weekend, so I may be dilated even more then I was on Friday.

I just have to say how amazing Devry is. I really don't know how people do bedrest for weeks or months. I am feeling completely useless and Its been 2 days, and I have no kids to worry about. I just want to be doing something productive. Devry has gone inside out bringing me things, cleaning things, yelling at me if I get off the couch. He has worked so hard this weekend to make sure absolutely everything is ready for my mom to come visit, and for Payton to arrive. I am so lucky to have such a thoughtful and hardworking husband who will do anything for me. I have enjoyed seeing Devry with our nieces and nephews this weekend. He is going to be an amazing dad! I feel so blessed to have him as a husband and soon to be father to Payton!

He's coming!!

So I went to my appointment today. It was supposed to be a simple blood pressure check, but turned into much more. My blood pressure was up...and this time it didn't come down very much after resting for several minutes. The Doctor came in and wanted to do labs and tests again. So I had labs drawn, a nonstress test and biophysical profile (ultrasound) on Payton. Everything still looked ok...but the Dr. was worried it could go bad quickly. He told me that he wanted to induce me sooner rather then later. He really wanted to get me in this weekend, but I told him I would prefer to wait until monday so I can have one of the Doctors I have been seeing. (Two offices rotate call on weekends, and a doctor from the other office is on this weekend). He agreed to let me wait till monday if I stay on very strict bedrest all weekend. He checked me, and I am dilated to 2cm, and 50% effaced. He says there is a HUGE change since he checked me on monday, so my body is definately getting ready for Payton to come!

So Monday morning at 7:30 am I will be induced. I am so excited but nervous. I feel lucky that I work there and know exactly what to expect. I don't know what people do who don't know what to expect. My mom is coming on Sunday night now, and I can't wait!

I am so excited....in 3 days or so I will be holding my sweet little Payton!

House renovations

I am finally posting some before and after pictures of the house renovations.

We got our new couch delivered yesterday, and it makes our TV room look so much better! I still have to put up curtains, pictures etc, but all the big stuff is done. Here are the pics of the TV room!

Before picture....I forgot to take pictures of this room before we started, so I had to look through and find some...this was Christmas.

After. My baby swing and pack n play are set up in here too. I love our new couch!!

Same room looking the other way .

........and now
The Front room still needs new furniture. We moved our fun 70's couches into that room, so that will do until we can afford new stuff. I love the changes in this room!

.....and after. We have a new fireplace too. It still needs hooked up, but looks really good! I love the floors in this room. Thanks so much to Devry, his dad and brothers for laying it. It was not an easy task, and we are lucky to have such great family to help.
And finally, the nursery. I have already posted pictures of the nursery, but Ill post them again for before and after pictures. I love my nursery and am so excited to get pictures of him up on the walls.

After.
We love how everything turned out. Two more bedrooms have new carpet, but I didn't take pictures of them. We also painted our bedroom and layed laminant flooring, but I havn't taken pictures of it yet. We still have a few finishing touches, but mostly everything is done. We were lucky to have Devry's cousin Scott do the renovations. He did such an amazing job! Then to have Devry's brothers and dad come and help with painting, carpet and flooring. We feel so lucky that family is so close and willing to help us.
I love feeling ready for Payton to come. With the house done and everything bought and set up for him, I am ready for him to come anytime now! 8 days to go till my due date! If I do go past my due date, my induction date is set up for August 3rd, so hopefully 10 days at the most! It is unreal that I will be holding him soon! I am really hoping he comes on the 29th. We have a family reunion with all of Devry's family on the 27th and 28th, then my mom is coming on the 29th. I would like to be able to go to the reunion and have my mom here for the delivery. I can't wait for my mom to come. Its been a year since I have seen her, and can't wait for her help with the baby, and just to spend 10 days with her!
I will keep updates on my blog the best I can. I will be bringing my laptop to the hospital with me so I can post pictures of Payton soon after he is born.

38 weeks!

2 weeks to go! I had a Dr.'s appointment today and my blood pressure was good the first time they took it. It was up a little on friday when they checked it, so I was instructed to stay down all weekend. I was really pretty good and relaxed alot this weekend. Devry was absolutely amazing! He cooked and cleaned and organized and did schoolwork plus work. I am so lucky to have such a helpful and wonderful husband. I have another appointment on Friday to check my blood pressure, then another to see the Doctor on Monday. The Doctor checked me today, and Payton's head is down and staying down, but my cervix is too far behind his head to tell what I am dilated to. He said he could have checked, but it would have been really painful for me, and at this point its not that important. They will check again on monday.
The hot weather is really difficult for me now. I am so warm alll the time, and can't seem to cool off. My feet and hands are constantly swollen, and I am retaining alot of water. I am swollen in my face, legs and arms too. A combination of the heat and the blood pressure problem is not so much fun because it is causing the bad swelling. I can't wait to have him and see the swelling go away.
I am having pretty regular contractions off and on, that are starting to get uncomfortable. I will wake up with strong ones almost every morning, then they will space out when I get up and start doing stuff. Hopefully they are doing something and not just causing me to be uncomfortable!
Well here are my 38 week pictures. I was VERY hesitant to post them, since I feel like a big blown up balloon, but I figured I will want them later.

Devry took a picture of my swollen feet....so nice of him, haha.

Puppies!!

I Was at work Wednesday night and got a text from Devry telling me Daisy was acting funny. I asked him how, and when he told me she wouldn't chase her tennis ball, it was obvious something was up. She LIVES for playing fetch with a tennis ball, and I have never seen her not interested in doing it. She started finding toys and things and taking them into the shed, then began whining. Then around 9:30 I got another text to tell me she had the first puppy, a girl! Work was slow and so I volunteered to be sent home. I got home around 10:30, and she had just had the second one...another girl! Over the next 4 hours she had 5 more.... 4 boys in a row and a girl. Grand total: 7 puppies, 3 girls and 4 boys. She was such a trooper! She took such good care of all the puppies, and just wanted us to sit and pet her.
Here they are today (30ish hours old). Daisy is an amazing mom! We were a little worried that we would be overwhelmed taking care of puppies and close to having a new baby...but we havn't had to do a thing! We have to MAKE her get up to go potty, and she rushes right back the second one of them peeps. I tried to get a picture of just the puppies, but as soon as someone walks in the room with them she rushes over to them.

They are so cute!! (or at least they will be....right now they kinda look like little white rats.)

She's such a great dog!

This one is the runnaway. He always finds his way away from the rest, and then starts crying. See..he's trying to escape again.

And the proud dad! Dash has been really good too. He wasn't quite sure what was going on, but has been so good with Daisy and the puppies. He pretty much stays out of the way. Daisy is really good with him being around too.
Last night a bunch of family came over to see the puppies, including 5 kids. I was at work, but Devry took them all in to see the puppies. We were a little worried Daisy would be overprotective, but she was great! She let everyone pet them, and even pick them up. I can't wait till they open their eyes and start being able to walk so we can take them outside to run and play with our nieces and nephews!

I have to say that it really is not fair that daisy is pregnant for 2 months and has 7 puppies...in only 5-6 hours of labor.....and Im going on month #9 for 1 baby, and who knows how long I will have to labor!

Just Waiting..

Well I am 37 weeks now (and 3 days). He really could come anytime at this point. I had a doctors appointment yesterday with a few unexpected problems. First, the nurse came in to check my blood pressure.....140/90. Not so good, especially considering it was 120/60 my entire pregnancy. To someone else this may not be a huge deal, but I know all the things that go along with elevated blood pressure in pregnancy including not enough blood flow to the baby, and potentially seizures. So I expressed concern to her, and she kind of brushed me off like it wasn't a big deal, which I wasn't too impressed with. Then the doctor came in and he immediately said "you're blood pressure is up, lets recheck it and get labs done." I was glad he was concerned. The same nurse came in and rechecked it, and seemed a little flustered. Finally she told me that it was one of her first days and she is just getting used to how things are. This time though it was 145/100.....even worse! Of course at that point Im telling Devry all the things he has to go home and get if they send me right up to the hospital to be induced (which they would do if payton didn't look so good, or if my labs came back bad). No wonder my blood pressure keeps going up, i'm stressing myself out!
The doctor comes back in and says "you know the deal...labs and an NST." ( I think the doctors like that they don't have to explain everything they are doing because its all familiar to me....an NST is a nonstress test. They put the baby on the heartrate monitor and look to make sure his heartrate is good.) Then he measures my belly.....and Im measuring 2 1/2 weeks ahead! Yet another thing to add to the growing list of problems. He told me he wanted to do an ultrasound to check his size. First I go down and get hooked up for the NST. That was kind of funny because the nurse I had seen the whole time came in with another nurse. Apparantly the new nurse didn't know how to do this. The more experienced nurse asked me if I knew how the monitors worked. I simply said yes...then she was like "oh so you must have had them hooked up before", I was like "no, I'm a labor and delivery nurse." Then the new nurse looks at me and says "you must really think I'm an idiot then." I assured her that I didnt, and was glad they were double checking things with my blood pressure being up. I think it made her even more nervous, because when it came time for her to draw labs, she looks at my arms (and I don't have great veins for drawing blood), and says "I'm not even going to try, I'll go get someone else." Well... The NST was fine. On to the biophysical profile (ultrasound). The tech first made sure he was still a boy (that was nice of her :) ), then went and measured various parts of his body (femer, abdomen, head, etc). From this she could tell me how big he is. He was measuring right about 7lbs, which is not near as big as the doctor feared. 7lbs at 37.2 weeks is in the 64th percentile. The tech said that if I go to my due date he will probably be around 8lbs....still to big in my mind. Hopefully Payton will be nice to his mommy and come a little early before he hits the 8lbs mark. The ultrasound also tests the bloodflow from the placenta to the baby, and his movements. He "passed with flying colors" as the doctor put it. I went back into another room (this is room change number 5)...and I hear the doctor ask a nurse to come in and recheck my blood pressure. This time it was a different nurse....probably my favorite one that works there. She comes in and says "I hate the blood pressure cuff in this room, I'm going to get a better one." She comes back and checks with a different cuff...120/64. Just fine. The doctor comes in, and tells me my labs are all great. Im thinking at this point, did I just get a million VERY expensive tests done because the blood pressure cuff she used isn't good?!?! Well the doctor told me he wants me to come back in every 3-4 days to have my blood pressure checked, and to check the baby. He also told me to check it on my own at work whenever I get a chance to sit down for a few minutes. He gave me permission to finish my last few shifts of work as long as my blood pressure stays ok, but while I am at home I am supposed to restrict my activity (basically sit on my but with my feet up and watch movies and read books). So here I am...sitting on my butt blogging when there are dishes, vacumming, organizing, and a million other things I wish I could be doing. One thing I know, when I go into the office on friday for a blood pressure check I am asking the nurse who took it last to do it so I know its accurate. Devry got out of class to come to my appointment with me and told his teacher it would be a quick appointment (which it was supposed to be)....then an hour and a half he makes it back to class. Luckily his teacher is very understanding. I;m glad that although we hit a few complications, Payton is still looking perfectly healthy and I'm still feeling fine. Hopefully everything keeps going ok, and he comes without any more problems.
I am finished his nursery and made a bunch of blankets and burp clothes that I will post pictures of.

Here are some fun burp clothes I made....I have a ton made in the same patterns, so these are some samples of the 20 I probably made.

His crib and name.....nothing has changed really, I am just really happy with it!

His changing table. I found the CUTEST basketts to go in it. They have brown and blue polka dots. I have the same baskets above his closet too, and in a nightstand (see the next picture)

Here is the nightstand. I found it at target for 19$! I was so excited! The lamp is already on it, and his monitor will go there too. The baskets I found fit perfectly too.
This is a flannel blanket I made and crocheted. I love the little trains on it! The back is just plain blue, I forgot to take pictures of the back.

And this is the minke blanket I made. It is sooo soft!!

I am working on 2 more blankets, which I will post pictures of when I am done.
